Isolation and Development of a Bacterial Consortium for Biodegradation of Textile Dyes Reactive Red 31 and Reactive Black 5

چکیده
Azo dyes represents largest group and most versatile among synthetic dyes. Its Extensiveuse in industries of paper, photography, dying, printing, cosmetics and their subsequent release in industrial effluents by traditional methods of treatment is causing serious environmental problems worlwide. In the present studies a mixed bacterial consortium (azo 8) was isolated from dye polluted soil from valsad and G.I.D.C., Vapi, Gujarat, India, by enrichment technique using Nutrient Broth/Agar and Bushnell and Haas Medium (BHM) incorporated with azo dyes Reactive Red 31 and Reactive Black 5.The consortium shows complete decolorization within 24 – 36 hours in static condition. The presence of laccase suggests its role in the degrdation of dyes. The biodegradation was monitored by TLC, HPLC and LC-MS. The results suggest that locally developed bacterial consortium azo 8 can be useful tool and must be exploited as bioremediation agents to reduce dye pollutants.

Decolorization of azo dyes (Direct Blue 151 and Direct Red 31) by moderately alkaliphilic bacterial consortium
Removal of synthetic dyes is one of the main challenges before releasing the wastes discharged by textile industries. Biodegradation of azo dyes by alkaliphilic bacterial consortium is one of the environmental-friendly methods used for the removal of dyes from textile effluents. Hence, this study presents isolation of a bacterial consortium from soil samples of saline environment and its use fo...

The present study was conducted to evaluate the potential applicability of biological trickling filter system for the treatment of simulated textile wastewater containing reactive azo dyes with bacterial consortium under non-sterile conditions. The percentage decolorization for the treatment of wastewater containing structurally different dyes was found to be higher than 95% in all trials. The ...
متن کاملDecolorization and biodegradation of reactive sulfonated azo dyes by a newly isolated Brevibacterium sp. strain VN-15
Azo dyes constitute the largest and most versatile class of synthetic dyes used in the textile, pharmaceutical, food and cosmetics industries and represent major components in wastewater from these industrial dying processes. Biological decolorization of azo dyes occurs efficiently under low oxygen to anaerobic conditions. However, this process results in the formation of toxic and carcinogenic...

The presence of synthetic dyes in textile wastewater is a problematic issue for environmentalist. Nowadays, dye removal is practiced via different methods. Among all these methods, biodecolorization is an ideal technique. The present research apples vermicompost microflora to remove reactive black- C, pH = 7, and under anaerobic condition. At 36h, removal efficiencies of 94.79%, 94.06%, and 93....
